How to Make Shahi Tukda | Authentic Hyderabadi Bread Dessert Recipe

Shahi Tukda is an amusing, tasty hyderabadi dessert, prepared using bread and Rabri. The genuine variety of Shahi Tukda, calls for consumption of full fat milk and profound frying bread in ghee till a golden brown gloom is attained. Crazy for sweet? Love rich fat desserts? Guest are at home without prior notice, confused what to prepare? Then this dish is for you……. It is a simple dessert which can be prepared in maximum 50 min with Bread, Sugar and Milk as main ingredient… Here I’m posting the recipe of Shahi Tukda…. Read, prepare, eat n enjoy!!!!!!

Ingredients Required to prepare Shahi Tukda?

·         Bread              4 slices
·         Milk                 ½ liter
·         Ghee for deep frying
·         Saffron          a pinch
·         Rose essence
·         Sugar               1/3 cup
·         Chopped nuts
      Corn Flour       1 tbsp

Method to prepare Shahi Tukda?


As discussed earlier,   Shahi Tukda is prepared using Bread and Rabri….. First step is to prepare Rabri.

Step 1 - Rabri:

·         Soak saffron in 3 tbsp of warm milk, and mix corn flour in 2-3 tbsp of milk
·         Boil milk and add saffron & corn flour paste to it
·         Simmer the milk until it reduces to a thick but poring consistently
·         Add chopped nuts and rose essence at last
Now Rabri is ready… lets proceed to Shahi Tukda…..

Step 2 – Proceeding to Shahi Tukda:

·         Remove brown side of bread slices and cut diagonally in four pieces
·         Fry pieces in medium flame until golden brown & crisp evenly
·         Boil sugar with little water, just to immerse the sugar and prepare a thick sugar syrup
·         Dip fried bread slices in the sugar syrup to coat both sides
·         Arrange the fried pieces in the plate
·         Pour the Rabri over the pieces such that all pieces are covered with Rabri
·         Refrigerate till it is chilled
·         Garnish with edible silver (Arq) and serve…………

Tips
Instead of frying bread slices, you can use toaster to toast the slices
